Activity: Promoting Access in Your School

Select the "Access and Integration Strategies" folder in Section 2, Technology as a Tool, on the Principal Connections CD-ROM. Review the access strategies. Choose one of the access strategies that best suits the needs of your school. Develop an implementation plan that incorporates the strategy and post it to the discussion area.

For example, calculate your school's student-computer ratio. If the ratio is lower than desired, choose a strategy such as "reutilize older equipment." Your implementation plan might include putting donated computers together in a central location to serve as word processing terminals and encouraging teachers to use older dot-matrix printers for students' rough drafts and early stages of projects.
