Evaluate the Plan
At this stage, you're trying to answer the question,
"Have we achieved all we hoped to at this point?" Remember that
the planning cycle is continuous and each stage feeds and progresses
into the next. Although evaluations come due in this cycle, they
must be planned from the very beginning and take place periodically
throughout.
 |
- Gather data. While schools are
often judged by results on standardized tests, the impact
of technology may not be measured so easily. Your evaluation
plan should be oriented to the goals and objectives developed
in the planning process and should provide means to determine
whether and how well these goals and objectives are being
met. In addition to test scores, surveys, classroom observations,
products, and focus groups can all provide valuable data
concerning the effectiveness of your plan.
- Provide feedback. Throughout
the cycle, collect feedback from everyone impacted by the
implementation of technology and don't forget to ask students
and parents. Report information to all stakeholder groups,
as well. Community members and business leaders as well
as educators in the system are looking for a return on their
technology investment.
- Evaluate goals. The most important
rule in data collection is to collect only the data you
need but collect all the data you need. Evaluate where you
are at in achieving the goals stated in your technology
plan, describe the current state of implementation, and
revise the plan as necessary.
